After 25 years in live television, Cate went on to transform a lifelong passion for gardens and garden design into a new career by training as a garden designer.

In 2006, Cate advised on the BBC television show "Digging Deep", researching and providing practical plant skills and horticultural experience to the production.
In 2007, Cate was Horticultural Researcher for BBC’s Gardener of the Year 2007, shot on location at RHS Wisley gardens.
Cate is currently lecturing in Horticulture (part time) for Nottingham Trent University’s School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences at Brackenhurst, Nottinghamshire.
